When a force of 1 Newton move the body through a distance of 1 m in its own direction then the work done is known as 1 joule.

The SI Unit of work is called joule which is denoted by the J.

I joule,= 1 newton × 1 metre

1 J = 1 Nm

Hey there!

Work is defined as scalar product of force and displacement.

The expression for the work done when a force is acting on an object in the direction of its displacement is as follows:

W = F . S

where,

F = magnitude of force

S = displacement

1 joule is defined as the the work done when a force of 1 N displaces an object at a distance of 1 m.

Hope It Helps You!
