1 Joule is the amount of work done on an object when a force of 1 N displaces it by 1 m along the line of action of Force.

It can be calculated as

Work = Force × Displacement

When Force = 1 N and Displacement = 1 m

Then Work = 1 × 1

Work = 1 Joule
