Rolling friction- the force of friction that comes into play when body rolls over the surface of another body.

- Friction is a contact force, applied between two surfaces that have relation motion.
- Friction always opposes the relative motion by applying a force in opposite direction.
- It is a self adjusting force. It first increases with the application of external force and then becomes constant by attaining a maximum possible force.

TYPES OF FRICTION :-
➠ Rolling Friction
- It is the resistance produced when a rolling body moves over a surface.
- Rolling friction has a lesser magnitude than sliding friction.
- Example :- small wheels in the suitcase
➠ Sliding Friction
- This is the frictional force between two surfaces when one body or object moves or attempts to move over the other.
- Sliding friction is the moment of force required to retain the state of motion of the moving object at the same speed.
- Example :- When you apply force to an already moving box to keep it moving on the floor it with the same speed.
➠ Static Friction
- It is the friction that works between two surfaces which are in contact, but there is no relative movement between them.
- Static friction is the amount of force applied at the instànt when an object starts moving from its state of rest.
- Example :- when you push a heavy box on the floor, the force that you apply to start it moving on the floor.
