Answer:

a) Sedimentation: It is the process of settling down of the insoluble heavy solid particles in a solid-liquid heterogeneous mixture.

b) Decantation: It is the process of separating the clear liquid above the settled sediments after the process of sedimentation is performed.

c) Filtration: It is the process of separating the constituents of a solid-liquid heterogeneous mixture, in which the solid particles are extremely fine to be separated by sedimentation and decantation. The mixture is passed through a special paper called the filter paper, which only allows liquid to pass through it. It holds back the solid residue and allows the liquid to pass and get collected later in a container. This liquid is the filtrate.
