an acid is a substance that gives hydrogen or hydronuum ion. Eg Hcl or hydrochloric acid.

An acid is. a compound that form hydroxyl ions when dissolved in water and whose aqueous solutions react with acids to form salts. Eg sodium hydroxide

An acid is a substance that gives hydrogen ion H+or a hydronium ion H3O+when dissolved in water. A substance, which has an acidic nature, contains one or more hydrogen and an anionic group in its formula.

Example: H2SO4 (sulfuric acid) contains two hydrogens or hydrogen ion 2H+and sulfate anion SO4(2-).


Base:

A Base is a substance which gives hydroxide ion OH-when dissolved in water.

Example :-
NaOH It is a base since it contains OH- ion or hydroxide ion
