Active mass or molar concentration is the number of moles of substance dissolved per litre litre solution. It is represented by a square bracket [ ] within which substance is mentioned.

Example : [ A ] means that active mass of A or Molar concentration of A. It's unit is mol/l or atm.

Active mass of a substance =  \frac{Number\: of\: moles\: of\: the\: substance}{Volume\: of \:the\: solution \:( \:l \:)\:}
