What is the relation between the RMS value and the peak value of AC?

Root mean square value or RMS is root 2 times of the peak value. Let us consider voltage with the peak value of V. So to get the RMS value of the voltage , we follow the equation as -


Vrms = V / square root of 2 = V / (2)^1/2 = V / 1.414


So from the above , Vrms = 0.707 * V.


Same equation goes with current too.
