Velocity:-

  • It is defined as the ratio of displacement and the corresponding time interval taken by object.

  • Velocity = Displacement/ Time

  • Velocity is a vector quantity.
  • It has both magnitude and direction .

  • The velocity of an object can be positive, zero and negative according to its displacement is positive,zero or negative.

  • The unit of velocity is cms^-1 in cgs and ms^-1 in SI system.

  • The Dimensional formula of velocity is

[{M}^{0} {L}^{1} {T}^{ - 1}]
