A chemical substance or medicine that helps in reducing acidity in our stomach by neutralising the effect of acid produced in our body.They are basic in nature.
Examples are Milk of magnesia and Roliads

antacids are the chemical substances which remove the excess acid in the stomach and raise the pH to appropriate level.

eg.. sodium hydrogen carbonate, ranitidine, a mixture of aluminum and magnesium hydroxide.
