trinomial - which have 3 terms

polynomial - which have more than 2 terms

An expression with single term is called monomial . Example : 3xy^2.

Expression with two terms are called binomial function. Example : 5x-1

Expression with three terms are called trinomial function. Example: 2x-5y^2+8.
