Calorimeter is cylindrical copper vessel used to measure heat energy, specific heat and latent heat. It is provided with their copper stirrer. It is enclosed in a wooden box so that there is no loss of heat by conduction and radiation.

Let the two substances are mixed let T be the temperature of mixture in thermal equilibrium.

Heat lost by the hard substance = Heat gained by the cold substance
