Question:

Define Catalysts with examples?

Answer:

Catalysts:

A material which is used to alter the rate of reaction us known as Catalysts.

Types:

Catalysts are in two flavors.

They are:

Homogenous .

Heterogeneous.

Homogeneous:

Homogenous catalysts mix with reactants in a uniform way.

Heterogeneous:

Heterogeneous catalysts mix with reactants in an opposite way.

Examples:

The catalytic converter in a car contains platinum.which serves as a catalyst to change carbon monoxide, which is toxic, into carbon dioxide.

A catalyst is a substance that increase the reaction rate of chemical reaction, without Being consume in the process.therefore, it it does not appear in the over overall stoichiometry in in the reaction it catalyzes. Types of catalyst: 1. divided in heterogeneous and homogeneous. examples : enzymes are an examples of homogenous catalyst and acids can also be homogeneous . 2. heterogenous catalyst is the catalytic converter in gasoline Ford diesel-Fuled cars.
