CEREBRUM

The Cerebrum or cortex is the larger part of the human brain. Its main functions include planning, thought, reasoning, problem solving, movement, emotions, action, memory and speech.

The Cerebrum makes up 85 percent of the brain's weight. It is the thinking part of the brain and controls the voluntary muscles. The Cerebrum works to control the muscles that help us dance or walk.

The Cerebrum has two halves. Scientists believe that the right half help us think about abstract things, such as music, colours and shapes, while the left half help us with maths, logic and speech. It is also believed that the right half of the Cerebrum controls the left side of the body and the left half controls the right side.
