Return of a portion of a purchase price by a seller to a buyer, usually on purchase of a specified quantity, or value, of goods within a specified period. Unlike discount (which is deducted in advance of payment), rebate is given after the payment of full invoice amount.

The following are the majordifferences between discount andrebate: The discount is a reduction in the face value of the goods allowed to the customers for making payment in stipulated time or purchasing products in big lots. ... The discount is a marketing strategy, but Rebate is a sales strategy.
