Define corrosion .what is corrosion of iron called ? in which two way corrosion of iron can be prevented ?

Corrosion is a process in which metals react with moisture, air, acids around it that damage the metal.
Corrosion of iron is called rusting.
Ways to prevent rusting:-
1. Galvanishing(coating iron with a layer of zinc)
2. Paint the metal surface to reduce the pace of oxidation.

when a metal reacts to the substances around it such as moisture, air, temperature and etc; it starts to corrode and the process is called corrosion.

when iron reacts to moisture it develops a brown, flakey layer around it. It is called corrosion of iron

when silver develops a blackish layer around it its said to be corroded.

corrosion is a serious problem as it completely damages the substances made up of metals which can prove to be very dangerous such as in situations like if it damages a building internally or a tower.

we can prevent corrosion in the following ways:

i) painting

ii) greasing

iii) oiling

iv) galvanisation
