It can also improve soil structure and fertility by alternating deep-rooted and shallow-rooted plantsNitrogen fixing bacteria called Rhizobium bacteria, are found in the root nodules of leguminous plants like peas and beans. These bacteria can fix atmospheric nitrogen into nitrates which increases the nutrient content of the soil.
