Definition of decomposition along with the processes and products is described below :

It is the method or the process or the phenomenon where the complex typw of organic substances are broken down by decomposers into inorganic matters such as water, nutrients, etc.

The process of this phenomenon :

1. First step is fragmentation in which the detritus is broken down by the detrivores like earthworms into very small units.

2. Next is leaching process where the nutrients that are soluble in water enters into the soil and gets precipitated as salts.

3. Third is catabolism where the detritus gets degraded into simple substances.

4. Then occurs the humification in which substances of dark color gets accumulated.

5. Last is the mineralisation process in which further degradation of humus occurs.

Products obtained by decomposition are carbin dioxide and water.
