Ecological limitations for ecological pyramids:

Ecological pyramids are very helpful in understanding the relationships between wild animals with each other and point out the number of population, as well as the flow of energy between the population.

But, it has some defects too, which are mentioned below:

  • It doesn’t mention that a carnivorous animal can consume a primary consumer or a secondary consumer.
  • It doesn’t think about the existence of a food web.
  • No spot of saprophytes or bacteria in ecological pyramids.

These are the defects of ecological pyramid.
