Delegated laws are made by a person or body to whom parliament has expressly delegated part of its law-making power by an act of parliament. The laws go by many names-regulations, ordinances, statutory instruments, secondary legislation, by-laws and proclamations, to name just a few. There have been 75 different varieties counted in Australia.
