electric power is defined as the the rate of doing electrical work.
If I is the current and V is the potential different in V volt and t is the time in second, then
power p= electrical work / time
P= V x I x t / t
p= V x I……………………1)
equation 1 give the expression of electric power in terms of potential different.
but
V = IR [ R is the resistance]
Therfore, p= IxRxI
p= I^2R ………………………2)
equation 2 give the power in term of resistance.
