In silver plating, the object to be plated (e.g., a spoon) is made from the cathode of an electrolytic cell. The anode is a bar of silver metal, and the electrolyte (the liquid in between the electrodes) is a solution of silver cyanide, AgCN, in water. ... This produces a shinier and more adherent silver plating.

in this case silver should be made anode of electrolytic cell and spoon should be made cathode of electrolytic cell. silver cyanide should be taken as electrolyte. when current flows through silver cyanide solution it dissociates it into silver and cyanide ions.the silver mobile ions move to cathode where they get converted into sliver atom and get deposited on cathode. while cyanide goes to silver plate where they form silver cyanide again.hence silver is efficiently removed from anode and deposited on cathode.
