Epiphytic roots are the roots that grow on the surface of a plant and derives its moisture and nutrients from the air,rain,water or from debris accumulating around it.
For example-Spanish moss.

Epiphytes : The plants which grow on the branches of big trees to get exposed to sunlight are called epiphytes....
There are two types of adventitious specialised roots in epiphtyes :
➡ Clinging roots : These roots help the epiphyte to fix on the host stem or branch....
➡Velamen roots : These roots freely hang in the air.... They absorb moisture from the atmosphere using a dead hygroscopic tissue called Velamen tissue... Hence called velamen roots...most specifically called Epiphytic roots ..
