Definition & Examples. Evaporation is the process of a substance in a liquid state changing to a gaseous state due to an increase in temperature and/or pressure. Evaporation is a fundamental part of the water cycle and is constantly occurring throughout nature.

Evaporation is the change of liquid state of into vapour state at any temperature. It causes cooling because it is a surface phenomena. During evaporation the latent heat of vapourisation is taken by liquid from the surface to break it's intermolecular force of attraction. thus the surface lose heat and it causes cooling. It is evaporation due to which we could dry our clothes in any weather, the lands become cool when we pour water on it , the water of earthen pot remains cool and thus there are many examples of evaporation in our daily life.
