✹Exothermic reactions transfer energy to the surroundings and the temperature of the surroundings increases. Examples include any combustion process, rusting of iron, and freezing of water.
✹Endothermic reactions take in energy and the temperature of the surroundings decreases. Melting ice cubes , melting solid salts , evaporating liquid water , converting frost to water vapor are endothermic processes.
