Answers
Fractional distillation:
The process of separating the parts of a liquid mixture by heating it. As the temperature goes up, each part in turn becomes a gas, which then cools as it moves up a tube and can be collected as a liquid.
Products obtained:
The crude petroleum oil obtained from oil field, undergoes fractional distillation and a number of products are generated. These products of fractional distillation include, petrol (or gasoline), naptha, kerosene, diesel oil, lubricating oil, fuel oil, grease and wax.
Uses of the products:
Petrol (or gasoline) and diesel: are commonly used for running our vehicles, which operate on petrol or diesel engines.
Naphtha:Naphtha is a flammable liquid made from distilling petroleum. It looks like gasoline. Naphtha is used to dilute heavy oil to help move it through pipelines, to make high-octane gas, to make lighter fluid, and even to clean metal.
