Frequency

Frequency is defined as the number of vibrations made by a particle in one second.

Formula of frequency :

Frequency = 1 / time period .

Given :

time period = 0.05 s

Frequency = 1 / 0.05 s

                  = 100 / 5 s

                  = 20 / s

                  = 20 Hz

The frequency of the wave was 20 Hz

Other terms associated :

Time period : The time taken by a particle to complete one vibration is called time period.

The frequency of the wave depends on the source of sound which produces vibrations .

When the time period of a wave is 0.05 seconds its frequency = 1/the given time period, given time period = 0.05 sec thus f = 1/0.05 = 20 Hz.
