\underline{HOMOLOGOUS \:ORGANS; }

"" Those organs which have the same basic structure( or same basic design) but different functions are called homologous organs "".

EXAMPLE: fore Limbs of man, a lizard, a frog ,a bird seem to be built from the same basic design of bones but they perform different functions .

\underline{ANALOGOUS\: ORGANS: }
"" Those organs which have different basic structure( ordifferent basic designs) but have similar appearance and perform similar function of called analogous organs ""

EXAMPLE: Wings of an insect and a bird have different structure but they perform the same function of flying .

SOME IMPORTANT POINTS :

1) Analogous organs have different basic designs ,so they do not indicate a common ancestors for the organism
2) The analogous organs provide evidence for the evolution in another way .
3) They indicate that even the organism having organs with different structures can adapt to perform similar functions for they survive under hostile environmental condition .

Homologous organ is an organ , system ,or body part that shares a common ancestry in multiple organisms.

Analogous organ are the organs of different animals which have different basic structure but perform same function.

e.g:- the wing of a bird and wing of a butterfly have different structures but they perform similar function so they are analogous organ
