Define hormone and the hormone secreted by thyroxine glands

Hormones are the chemical substances secreted in small amounts by specialised cells in body.In other words hormones are the chemical substances which coordinate the work and all activities of living organisms and also their growth.

➠They are present in very small quantities in body and act on specific tissues and organs.

\huge{\tt{\underline{\underline{Thyroxine \: hormone :-}}}}

➠It is secreted by Thyroid glands. This gland is attached to windpipe of body and the hormone which it makes contain Iodine.

The function of thyroxine hormone is to control the rate of metabolism of fate, proteins and carbohydrates.

Note:-

Iodine is necessary for making Thyroxine hormome but it's deficiency can cause Swelling of throat ,which is named as Goitre.

1) Parathormone:-

This hormones is secreted by parathyroid glands. Their function is to regulate Calcium and phosphate levels in blood.

2) Thymus hormone :-

This hormone is secreted by thymus gland which plays a role in development of immune system.

Note:- This gland is large in child's but shrink after puberty.

3) Aderaline hormone :-

This hormone is secreted by Adernal gland and thier function is to regulate heart rate, breathing rate, blood pressure and metabolism.

4) Growth hormone:-

This hormone is secreted by pituitary gland and helps in growth of body.
