Compound containing carbon and hydrogen is called hydrocarbons.These compounds can be found as gaseous, liquid, or solid.

Composition of hydrocarbons vary as per its type i.e alkanes , alkenes, alkynes or aromatic compounds.

e.g The overall formula of an alkane is CₙH₂ₙ₊₂, where n shows the quantity of carbon atoms present.

It can be in composition or not

Like halogen group have not composition it can (br),(cl)etc

And alcohol group,aldehide group is of composition of hydrogen&oxygen.
