the natural tendency objects to resist a change in their state of rest or uniform motion is called inertia. this is of three types they are inertia of rest and inertia of motion.inertia of rest means the tendency of object to continue its state  of rest is known as inertia of rest.and inertia of motion is the tendency of object to continue its state of motion is known as inertia of motion. it is not only 2 types but it also included inertia of direction  the tendency of object to continue its direction is known as inertia of direction.
