Take a simple example that is salt which doesn't conducted electric in solid state bt in molten it's conduct, this is because in molten state an ions of it easy to move which is very necessary for conduct electricity....

a chemical bond that is formed between two atoms by complete transfer of one or more electrons from one atom to another as a result of which the atoms attain their nearest inert gas configuration .and the electrostatic force of attraction that hold the oppositely charged ions together are called as ionic bond and the resulting compound are called ionic compound. ions are charged particles, but ionic compounds can only conduct electricity if their ions are free to move. So ionic compounds do not conduct electricity when they are solid, but they do conduct electricity when they are dissolved in water or when they are melted.
