Ionization Enthalpy:-
the energy required to remove an electron from the isolated gaseous state of the atom in it's ground state.
Trends:-
- size of atom is inversely proportional to ionization enthalpy.
- nuclear charge is directly proportional to the ionization enthalpy.
- screening effect is inversely proportional to the ionization enthalpy.
- penetrating effect is directly proportional to ionization enthalpy.
- ionization enthalpy is higher in atoms with stable electronic configuration ( high filled and fully filled configuration)
