Different atoms of an element having same atomic number but different mass number are called isotopes.

Two uses of isotopes in medicine are:-

i) Rhenium-186 is used for pain relief in bone cancer.

ii) Erbium-169 is used for relieving arthritis pain in synovial joints.

Isotopes are element with same atomic number and different mass number.
For ex.,
Carbon=12 and 14 have atomic mass.
Chlorine=35 and 37 have atomic mass.
Iodine -125-  thyroid treatment
Cobalt-60-radiotherapy for cancer treatment.
