The energy possessed by a body due to its motion is kinetic energy

In terms of work done, it is defined as the work done to accelerate a body of given mass from rest till it aquires a certain velocity.

Kinetic energy= ½mv²

Here m is the mass of the body

v is the velocity of the body

We know momentum (P)= mv

Kinetic energy is = P²/2m

✳️ Kinetic energy of a body is the energy possessed by it due to its state of motion.

✳️ The unit of kinetic energy is Joule (J).

✳️ If a body of mass m is moving with a speed v, then, its kinetic energy is given as : K.E. = (1/2) × m × v²
