Parallelogram law of vector addition :

Statement - If two vectors acting simultaneously at a point are represented in magnitude and direction by the two adjacent sides of a parallelogram, then the digonal of a parallelogram passing through that point represents the resultant in magnitude direction

Analytical method - Let the two vectors P and Q be represented in magnitdue and direction by the adjacent sides OA and OB of parallelogram OACB. Suppose the angle between the vectors is θ i.e. ∠AOB = θ.

According to the parallelogram law of vector addition, the diagnol represents the resultant vector R ( OC ) in magnitude amd direction. Suppose vector R makes an angle α with vector P i.e. ∠AOC = α.
