Latent heat of fusion is the heat needed by solids to get converted into
liquid.it is needed only at the time of the conversion of solid to liquid.it is known as latent heat because when this heat is taken it doesn't increase the temperature of the solid

the word latent means hidden...
in this sense latent heat of fusion means the heat energy that is required to change a solid into its liquid state..but this heat is not perceive by us because that heat energy is observed completely in the process of fusion in which this heat helps in breaking the force of attraction between the particles of solid....
note: as it is not perceive by us that's why it is called as latent heat ( hidden heat)
hope it helps u :)
