When a material in liquid state is given energy it changes its state and becomes vapour. The energy absorbed during this process is called latent heat of vaporization. During this process the energy remains constant it does not changes because the heat gets used up in breaking the force of attraction between the particles. The latent heat of vaporisation of water is 2260kg.
