The rate of change of linear displacement is known as linear velocity. It is denoted by “V”. its units are ms-1.

V = d/t

The rate of change of angular displacement is known as angular velocity. It is denoted by “ω”. its units are rads-1.

ω = θ/t

Relation between linear velocity and angular velocity:

We know that:

θ = Arc/radius = s/r

As,

ω = θ/t = s/rt

ω = v/r

v=rω
