★ MASS

→ MASS IS IMAGES OF QUANTITY OF MATTER CONTAINED IN A BODY...

→ IT IS A CONSTANT QUANTITY...

→ IT IS EXPRESSED IN KILOGRAM (KG)...

★ WEIGHT

→ WEIGHT IS DEFINED AS THE FORCE EXERTED UPON A BODY DUE TO THE GRAVITY . w ∞ g

→ WEIGHT IS A VECTOR QUANTITY AND VARIABLE IN NATURE...

→ IT IS EXPRESSED IN NEWTON (N)...

\boxed{-:Mass:-}

Mass of a body is defined as the quantity of matter contained in the body. Because mass of a body is a measure of inertia of the body, so the mass is also known as inertial mass.

\textbf{Unit\:of\:mass} The S.I. unit of mass is Kilogram(kg)

\underline{Characteristics\:of\:mass}

¡ Mass of a body does not depend on the shape, size and the state of the body.

¡¡ Mass of the body remains same at all places.

¡¡¡ Mass of the body is proportional ti the quantity of matter contained in it.

iv Mass of the body does not change in the presence of other body near it.

v Mass of the body can be measured with the help of Beam balance.

\textbf{Mass\:is\:a\:Scaler\:Quantity.}

\boxed{-:Weight:-}

The force with which a body is attracted by the Earth is known as the weight of the body.

The force with which a body of mass M is attracted by the earth is given by

F = ma

F = m × g

F = mg

This force is known as the weight of the body. It is denoted by W.

\textbf{Unit\:of\:Weight} The S.I. unit of weight is same that of force i.e. Newton(N).

\underline{Characteristics\:of\:weight}

¡ It is a vector quantity having direction towards the center of the Earth.

¡¡ The weight of body changes from place to place.

¡¡¡ The weight of the body at the centre of the earth will be zero.

iv At a given place, we can use the weight of an object is a measure of its mass.

\textbf{Weight\:is\:a\:Vector\:Quantity.}
