Its beginning is marked with the thickening of the uterine wall to receive the fertilised egg.If the egg is not fertilised,the uterine wall breaks up and comes out along with some blood from vagina.This lasts for 2-8 days.This cycle of processes is known as menstrual cycle.It is caused due to puberty.
