if a body cover equal distance in equal interval of time in a straight line then its motion is said to be uniform motion .

if a body cover unequal distance in equal interval of time then its motion is said to be non uniform motion .

Motion :- an object is said to be in motion if its position changes continuously with respect to a fixed reference point called origin.

Speed :-

  • > speed of a body is defined as distance travelled by its per unit time.

  • > if a body cover a distance 's' in time 't' , then speed is mathematically expressed as

speed =  \frac{distance}{time}  =  \frac{s}{t}

  • > speed is a scalar quantity and its SI unit is m/s . A body moving in uniform motion is said to have uniform speed .

Velocity :-

  • > velocity of a body is defined as its displacement per unit time.

  • > velocity \:  =  \frac{displacement}{time}

  • > velocity is a vector quantity and its SI unit is same as off speed m/s . velocity can be positive , negative or zero depending upon displacement of body.
