The process of providing or obtaining the food necessary for health and growth is called nutrition.
As it involves providing food to the cells of the body,it is catabolic process which results in breakdown of food particles to useful products which can easily be assimilated and absorbed.

Nutrition is the process to transfer source of energy ( food ) from outside to the body of an organism for maintaining living structures.

In other words, it is a process by which an organism obtains its nutrients and utilises them for obtaining energy and building and repairing of tissues.

Yes, it is a catabolic process, as in the mode of this nutrition biocatalysts called enzymes are very useful.
