It is an aqueous solution composed of glucose and electrolytes, including sodium, potassium, chloride, magnesium, and phosphorus it is given to the patient for treating dehydration especially diarrhea.

It can be prepared at home by:-

Adding 6 level teaspoons of sugar and (1/2) level teaspoon of salt in one litre of clean drinking or boiled water.

*Be very careful while mixing the amounts. Too much sugar can make the diarrhoea worse and too much salt can be extremely harmful.*

The best method is to drink water frequently.
