Osmosis is defined as the movement of H2O molecule (water) from a region of high concentration to a region of lower concentration.

It is different from diffusion because it occurs only in water while diffusion may happen in solid , liquid or gas but mostly in gas.

Answer:

movement of a solvent (such as water) through a semipermeable membrane (as of a living cell) into a solution of higher solute concentration that tends to equalize the concentrations of solute on the two sides of the membrane.
