Hey there!

▶Osmosis is the process of movement of solvent molecules from the region of its higher concentration to its lower concentration(Until equilibrium is attained on either side) through a semi permeable membrane(like cellophane, Animal tissue)

(refer attachment)

▶Three types of solutions based on Osmotic pressure➡

1. Isotonic solutions

➡ Osmotic pressure of either solutions is same i.e, π1 = π2

2. Hypotonic solutions

π1<π2

3. Hypertonic solutions

π1>π2

Answer:

Osmosis is a passive process and happens without any expenditure of energy. It involves the movement of molecules from a region of higher concentration to lower concentration until the concentrations become equal on either side of the membrane.

Any solvent can undergo the process of osmosis including gases and supercritical liquids.

There are three different types of solutions:

Isotonic Solution

Hypertonic Solution

Hypotonic Solution
