Osmosis is the movement of solvent from low concentration solution to high concentration solution through a semipermeable membrane. There are mainly three types of osmosis.
(i)isotonic osmosis
(ii)hypotonic osmosis
(iii)hypertonic osmosis
Example-if we take a RBC cell(with 0.9% salt in it with water as solvent)and keep it in water solution with 0.1% salt present in it.In this experiment the water will move towards the RBC cell(as water has less salt therefore more amount of water present in the solution and RBC cell has high concentration of salt that means less water) and the RBC cell will burst after some time.the osmosis only depends on the concentration of solute present in both RBC and water it doesn’t depends on the amount of water
