Pastoral farming involves cattle ranching for meat and dairy farming for milk and milk products . Dairy Farming is the rearing of cattle on a large scale to meet the demand for milk and milk products.

Many parts of the temperate grasslands of the world have been used for cattle ranching. The vast cattle farms may be 10,000 hectares in extent and are manned ny cowboys. When the cattle are ready for the market , they are sent by the rail to the slaughter houses of the major towns where the meat is chilled or frozen and then exported.

USA is a large exporter or beef where cattle are raised in the Western Prairies.

Argentina is the largest exporter from the Pampas grasslands region. Australia is also a major beef exporter
