Definition of phylloclade. : a flattened stem or branch (such as a joint of a cactus) that functions as a leaf.

Stem and branches take over the function of Photosynthesis, for that they get modified into flat,green leaf like structures. these structures are called Phylloclades. They show nodes on them from where leaves ,branches etc. also emerge. Cladode is a similar structure with one internode .
