The transfer of pollen grains from the anther to stigma for fertilization is called pollination.
Pollination is of two types. They are:
Self Pollination: When pollen grains from the anther of a flower is transferred to the stigma of the same flower or to the stigma of another flower in the same plant, it is known as self pollination.
Self pollination doesn't require any transferring agents.
Cross pollination: When pollen grains from the anther of a flower is transferred to the stigma of another flower in another plant, it is called cross pollination.
Cross pollination requires transferring agents like insects etc.
