PRINCIPLE OF HOMOGENEITY :

It states that a formula of any quantity is dimensionally correct if dimensions of L.H.S of a equation is equal to the dimensions of R.H.S of the equation.

If an equation fails this consistency test then it is proved wrong but if it passes the consistency test, it is not necessarily proved right.

EXAMPLE : Work and Torque have same dimensional formula.

[Work] =[Torque]

\sf{[M^{1}L^{2}T^{-2}] =[M^{1}L^{2}T^{-2}]}

This equation is dimensionally correct but physically incorrect.
